A classic car show with live music and children’s activities will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday in the Oak Hills Community Church parking lot, 601 S. U.S. Highway 377 in Argyle.

The event is sponsored by Argyle Town Council candidates Todd Mankin and Ronald Schmitz and mayoral candidate Donald Moser.

Some of the vintage cars to be displayed are a 1937 Chevrolet Master Deluxe, 1955 Chevrolet Nomad, 1967 Ford Mustang , 1957 Chevrolet Belair and 1973 Volkswagen Super Beetle, 1971 Chevrolet C10 pickup and more.

Argyle Spring Clean-Up set for Saturday

The Argyle Spring Clean-Up is scheduled from 8 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Argyle Town Hall, 308 Denton St. The clean-up is for Argyle residents only and proof of residency is required.

Residents can dispose of household hazardous waste, electronic waste and household goods, but Freon must be removed. There will be on-site document destruction and tire recovery — no more than four tires per household.

Applications available for Back-To-School Program

Applications are now available for the Argyle Community Civic League’s Back-to-School Program.

The Argyle Community Civic League, Incis a nonprofit organization that raises funds for children with financial needs living in the Argyle area. The Back-to-School program supplies the children with back-to-school clothes, shoes, backpacks and school supplies before the beginning of school.

ACCL also supplies those same children with clothes and toys at Christmas through the Angel Tree program. This year, Cross Timbers Church in Argyle will supply shoes and socks, while the Argyle United Methodist Church will provide school supplies.

Applications are available at each of the Argyle ISD school nurses’ offices: Rynn Randall at Hilltop Elementary, Traca Maestas at Argyle Middle School, Kris Wildeveld at Argyle Intermediate School and Sherrie Thompson at Argyle High School.

The applications are to be completed and returned to the nurses’ offices by Monday, May 22, along with the following documentations: valid personal identification with photo; birth certificate for each school-aged child requesting assistance; proof of current income with either pay stub, Social Security insurance, child support, Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) or government assistance, mortgage or lease, electric, water and gas bill, food stamp award letter and email address.
