If you have ever read a book from a really well known and respected novelist and as you were reading you encountered a really jarring printing error, that made a complete mess of a sentence or misspelled a word, you were probably really surprised because you expect the books you have paid good money for to have been thoroughly proofread and checked for any errors. Thankfully, it doesn’t happen too often.
However, websites and web content don’t seem to receive the same amount of attention when it comes to the quality of writing. A website owner might be an expert in gardening but not so much in spelling! Content gets thrown up unchecked and visitors arrive on the site and either laugh or click away (usually both). It doesn’t need to be like this, even when budgets are tight, it’s important to get the message of a website through professionally.
What these sites need are good writers and someone with good proofreading skills to check all the content before it gets posted for the entire world to see. Good proofreaders are worth their weight in gold because the skill isn’t an easy one and certainly takes time to master.
