Mission Hospital adds the names of 2016 donors to its Wall of Recognition – Orange County Register

MISSION VIEJO Mission Hospital invited families of 31 organ, tissue and eye donors and honored those individuals by placing their names on plaques and installing them on the Wall of Recognition in a special ceremony, Thursday, April 20.

It’s the second such ceremony the hospital has held to celebrate organ donors, their families and their gifts of life, which go to help others awaiting transplants.

The hospital opened the memorial site with a ceremony, Nov. 30, where it honored 73 families who had lost loved ones in tragic events. The 31 donors honored Thursday were all organ donors at the hospital in 2016.

Margie Whittaker, a palliative care coordinator for 25 years at the hospital, estimated that Mission Hospital sees approximately 10-15 organ donors and 50 tissue donors per year.
