Aquarium Coming to the Marketplace at Steamtown






SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU)  The newest tenant planned for the once struggling mall at Steamtown — may be its most diverse yet.
    Eyewitness News Reporter Eric Deabill shows us how the newly named marketplace at Steamtown — is about to get an aquarium and reptile den.
 

Renovations are underway on the first floor of the Marketplace at Steamtown.
    Managers aren’t preparing for another clothing store to move in — but rather fish, alligators and crocodiles.
    These are artist renderings of what the planned electric city aquarium and reptile den will look like.
 

“With the changes that we’ve made at the marketplace so far, this is a huge addition to it” Said Joseph Kenney, the General Manager at the Marketplace at Steamtown
   

The planned development is the brain-child of a fish and animal lover from Susquehanna County — who is making his own collection the basis of the attractions.
 

“I think bringing a lot of kids and school-type things here will be wonderful for the community.” said Morgan Laniewski of Jessup
    The aquarium will become the newest tenant in a rapidly changing Marketplace at Steamtown.
    Luzerne County Community College — and even an indoor playground for kids — have already helped transform this Lackawanna Avenue landmark.
